Adaptive Re-use Page

Unfortunately many buildings reach the end of their useful life and can stand empty for some time, this can lead to their steady decline as there can be little incentive to maintain them whilst they serve no purpose.
Adaptive re-use of heritage buildings, not only gives these structures a new and relevant purpose, but enables its significance to be preserved, whether this is aesthetic, setting or social.
Re-use however, is a complex process which must ensure that repairs and adaptations are undertaken in a sympathetic way which respect the significance and fabric of the building and in a way that is reversible should the new use also become unviable in the future.
Evans & James can provide consultation, master planning, design and specification in order to assist you in identifying suitable and financially viable uses for the buildings in your care in order to enable them to be brought back into use whilst conserving the significance of the building.
